"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" has finished #1 for the late-night ratings week of Sept. 14-18 in adults 18-49 and total viewers.
With the wins, "Tonight" remained the late-night leader in the key 18-49 demo and moved ahead of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in total viewers in the second week of the new CBS talk show.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" continued to dominate its time-period competition and virtually matched ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in adult 18-49 despite starting an hour later.
NBC's late-night success extended to the online world as well, where "Tonight" amassed a total of 215 million online views during the weeks of Sept. 7 and Sept. 14, with 14 separate "Tonight Show" videos generating more than 1 million views.
The NBC ratings wins for Sept. 14-18 conclude a dominant 2014-15 season for the network's late-night lineup, marking the 20th straight season "Tonight" has been the #1 late-night broadcast talk show among adults 18-49 and the 19th time in 20 seasons "Tonight" has been #1 in total viewers.
With the transition to Jimmy Fallon as host, "Tonight" has delivered the show's two top-rated seasons in the last six years.
For the 2014-15 52-week season, Fallon outdelivered the time period's ABC and CBS competition in every key measure - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" topped CBS's "Late Late Show" for the season in all key categories and also outrated ABC's "Nightline" in their head-to-head half-hour from 12:30-1 a.m. ET in every key measure.
For the Sept. 14-18 week, Fallon won four of five nights versus Colbert in both 18-49 and total viewers, only trailing "Late Show" in 18-49 on Thursday - the night the CBS show was boosted by a high-rated NFL overrun. Fallon claimed that night in total viewers.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" decisively topped CBS's "Late Late Show with James Corden" in both 18-49 and total viewers and, despite the later hour, nearly matched ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in 18-49 (0.46 vs. 0.47). Meyers outrated Kimmel in men 18-49 (0.44 vs. 0.36) and men 25-54 (0.54 vs. 0.47).
"Tonight" continues to excel across social platforms, with double- and triple-digit growth over the past year and a recent Creative Arts Emmys juried award win in the Social TV Experience category. Versus its levels of one year ago, "Tonight" is up +63% on Facebook (5.8 million likes for its show page vs. 3.6 million), up +92% on Twitter (3.0 million followers vs. 1.5 million), up +24% on Tumblr (703,000 followers vs. 569,000), up +84% on Youtube (8.0 million subscribers vs. 4.3 million) and up +218% on Instagram (1.4 million followers vs. 426,000).
