Gabrielle Lansner & company Announces NYC Premiere of THE STRONGER at VisionFest Film Festival today, June 21 & International Film Screenings.

Gabrielle Lansner & company is thrilled to announce that THE STRONGER will be screening as part of VISIONFEST 2012 on June 21st at 7pm at Tribeca Cinemas located on 54 Varick Street. THE STRONGER will also screen at the International Architecture Film Festival in Lund, Sweden in September and has recently screened at the Cannes Court Metrage, Palais des Festival in May. THE STRONGER is a film that evokes the interior conflicts of two women grappling with love, betrayal, and shame and is inspired by August Strindberg’s play of the same name. An emotional and psychological journey unfolds as we are drawn into the interior worlds of two women who are in love with the same man.

Dad, Gabrielle’s first short film, will screen at In The Palace International Film Festival in Varna, Bulgaria in June. “Dad” has been screened at NewFilmmakers Film Festival, the Anthology Film Archives, the Baryshnikov Arts Center, The Newport Beach Film Festival, The GAGA Arts Festival, and won the Award of Merit for Experimental Film from the Accolade Competition in La Jolla, CA.

wishing..., Gabrielle’s third film will screen at the Glow Dance Festival in Hereford, UK in June as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. wishing… has also screened at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, GAGA Arts Festival, the Piermont Straus Gallery, and at New Filmmakers at Anthology Film Archives.

For over 30 years, Gabrielle Lansner’s creative work has crossed interdisciplinary boundaries and has recently shifted focus to filmmaking as a new way to create her work. She is interested in capturing the psychological moments that inhabit the performer and how narrative can be expressed through that physicality. She is a member of the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab and was instrumental in developing PS 122 as a rehearsal and performance space.

Gabrielle Lansner & company creates visceral and intellectually stirring film and dance/theater that invites audiences to deepen their own emotional life. Since 1997, the company has has performed in NYC at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwrights Horizons, The Duke on 42nd Street, Walkerspace, HERE, New York Theater Workshop, The Joyce Soho, The Ohio Theater, The 92nd Street Y, Movement Research at the Judson Church and the Harborfront Centre in Toronto. The company has received multiple grants from The Harkness Foundation for Dance, The Puffin Foundation, and from the Alvin and Louise Myerberg Family Foundation.
