Twenty-five years after THE SIMPSONS' "Homer at the Bat" episode originally aired, it is still a fan-favorite. The episode featured guest-voice appearances by nine superstar Major League Baseball players, including members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame - Wade Boggs, Ken Griffey, Jr. and Ozzie Smith - and Roger Clemens, Steve Sax, Jose Canseco, Don Mattingly, Darryl Strawberry and Mike Scioscia.
The episode originally aired on FOX on February 20, 1992, exactly 25 years ago yesterday. In recognition of this anniversary, fans can celebrate America's favorite family - and Americana at its best - during the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum's Hall of Fame Classic Weekend. Currently in its 28th season, THE SIMPSONS airs Sundays @ 8/7c on FOX.
Boggs and Smith, who guest-voiced in the classic episode that featured Homer Simpson winning the championship softball game for the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant with a walk-off hit-by-pitch, will join in a roundtable discussion from 9:30-11:00 AM ET, outside the Library entrance to the Hall of Fame in Cooper Park. The discussion, which is free and open to the public, also will feature the episode's executive producers, Al Jean and Mike Reiss, director Jim Reardon, executive story editor Jeff Martin and casting director Bonnie Pietila.
THE SIMPSONS will also be honored as part of pre-game ceremonies at the annual Hall of Fame Classic, a seven-inning legends game that afternoon at Cooperstown's historic Doubleday Field, featuring six Hall of Famers and recently retired players representing all 30 major league teams.
"THE SIMPSONS" RETURNS IN TWO WEEKS ON SUNDAY, MARCH 5 AT 8/7c ON FOX
