For the week of March 6, MSNBC's THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW (M-F 9-10 p.m. ET) was the number-one cable news show in the key A25-54 demo in the time period, according to Nielsen. "Morning Joe" (M-F 6-9 a.m. ET) ranked #2 for the week, surpassing CNN in both the A25-54 and total viewer demos.
"The Rachel Maddow Show" averaged 2.62 million total viewers and 624,000 A25-54 viewers last week (vs. CNN's 1.2 million total viewers and 402,000 viewers A25-54, and
FOX News' 2.64 total viewers and 548,000 viewers A25-54). This is the program's best week in total viewers since October 27, 2008 - the closest ever in total viewer delivery to
Fox News - and the best week in A25-54 since November 5, 2012. "The Rachel Maddow Show" last held its #1 spot in A25-54 during the week of October 10, 2016.
"Morning Joe" averaged 1 million total viewers and 225,000 A25-54 viewers last week (vs. CNN's 647,000 total viewers and 223,000 viewers A25-54), posting the biggest total viewer victory over
CNN since the week of November 5, 2012. Last week also marked the 17th straight week that "Morning Joe" has beaten
CNN in total viewers. This is the program's second best total weekly viewer delivery ever for the show.
March to-date,
MSNBC continued its ratings climb in prime (M-F 8-11 p.m. ET), ranking #2 among all cable networks in total viewers.
MSNBC is the second fastest-growing cable network among all cable in weekday prime (behind MLB Network), up +72% in total viewers over the same period in March 2016 (vs. -49% for
CNN and -14% for
FOX News).
