MSNBC finished the week of Nov. 27 - the 1st week of the final ratings month of 2017 - as the #1 cable news network in the A25-54 and A18-49 demographics during "The Rachel Maddow Show" at 9pm, "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" at 10pm and "The 11th Hour with Brian Williams" at 11pm. "The 11th Hour" also finished 1st among total viewers during its time period.
Additionally, MSNBC prime (M-F 8-11pm) beat CNN in total viewers and A25-54 for the week, delivering its best total viewer delivery for the week since the presidential election week (11/7/16). Prime averaged 2.5 million total viewers - more than double CNN's 1.1 million - and 535,000 viewers A25-54 (vs. CNN's 386,000).
"Maddow" averaged 3.0 million total viewers, more than double CNN's 1.1 million and 656,000 viewers A25-54 (vs. FOX News' 599,000 and CNN's 391,000). "The Last Word" averaged 2.4 million total viewers, more than double CNN's 1.1 million, and 518,000 viewers A25-54 (vs. FOX News' 467,000 and CNN's 366,000). "The 11th Hour" beat Fox News and CNN in total viewers with an average of 1.7 million total viewers (vs. FOX News' 1.5 million and CNN's 842,000) and in A25-54 with 374,000 (vs. FOX News' 343,000 and CNN's 275,000).
Additionally, MSNBC's breaking news coverage of former U.S. National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's guilty plea in Special Counsel's Robert Mueller probe on Friday, Dec. 1 was #1 among cable news networks in prime (8-11pm) in both A25-54 and total viewers. MSNBC was #1 in A25-54 and total viewers with "Hardball with Chris Matthews" at 7pm, "The Rachel Maddow Show" at 9pm, "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" at 10pm, "The 11th Hour with Brian Williams" at 11pm, and the re-air of "Maddow" at 12am. "All In with Chris Hayes" at 8pm was also #1 in A25-54.
On Friday, MSNBC dayside (9am-5pm) delivered 1.4 million total viewers (vs. CNN's 1 million), the biggest win over CNN ever during the daypart (a lead of +360,000 - previous lead was +275,000 on 9/22/00). Dayside also beat CNN in A25-54 and delivered its best A25-54 rating (since 10/2/17).
