Taking 2nd with young adults from 8:00-10:00 p.m. opposite NBC's "The Voice," week 1 of ABC's "The Great Christmas Light Fight" gained 4% in viewers (5.6 million vs. 5.4 million) from its same-night last-year telecast (on 12/5/16) and held even with Adults 18-49 (1.1/4).
Spiking over its lead-in at 10:00 p.m. (+68%/+55%) to rank as Monday's No. 1 scripted TV show, ABC's winter finale for "The Good Doctor" towered over NBC's "The Wall" holiday special in the hour by 100% in Total Viewers (9.4 million vs. 4.7 million) and by 70% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/7 vs. 1.0/4). The
ABC freshman drama has delivered the Top 6 biggest single Live + 7 Day lifts for any show this season in Total Viewers, adding +7.3 million viewers on average from L+SD to L+7.
Season to date in Nielsen's Most Current data stream (includes available TV Playback), ABC's "The Good Doctor" is TV's most watched drama of fall 2017 (over CBS' "NCIS" and NBC's "This Is Us") as well as the top 10 o'clock series in Total Viewers (17.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.8/15). It has also emerged as the No. 1 new TV series of the fall, over CBS' "Big Bang"-led "Young Sheldon." "The Good Doctor" is generating huge triple-digit time period improvement year to year for
ABC on Monday at 10:00 p.m. in Total Viewers (+169%) and Adults 18-49 (+192%), posting the highest gains for any network in any hour this season.
Projections Rationale: Lifts vs. L+SD are based on the 2016-17 season for premiere telecast or an average for originals (excluding the premiere). Returning shows: Profile based on same show (either premiere or averages for originals).
New Series: Based on similar series.
