The Goldbergs, ABC-TV's hit comedy, will DO AC when the show recreates the beaches and casinos of Atlantic City circa 1980-something during the sitcom's season premiere, airing on ABC-TV on Wednesday, September 26 at 8 p.m. EST / 7 pm. CST.

In the season six premiere entitled "Sixteen Candles," BARRY Goldberg (Troy Gentile) and his parents Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) and Murray (Jeff Garlin) travel to Atlantic City with Barry's fiancé, Lainey Lewis (AJ Michalka) and her father, Bill (David Koechner) to discuss their upcoming wedding plans.

While in Atlantic City, the Goldbergs walk the boardwalk, ride a pushcart, feast on salt water taffy, and gamble in a casino. The scenes were filmed in Redondo Beach, CA, attempting to recreate Atlantic City where executive producer Adam F. Goldberg and his real family vacationed in the 1980s.

The Goldbergs is an autobiography of executive producer Adam F. Goldberg's experiences of growing up in a Philadelphia-suburban family in the 1980s. Goldberg often inserts recreations of his personal life into the show, including actual videos from his youth.

"Some of my fondest childhood memories back in the 80s were down the shore in Atlantic City," said Goldberg. "Our family has owned a house in Ventnor for nearly 50 years, which has been passed down through the generations. I'd spend my summers on the beach, walking the boardwalk and going to the casino arcades and Ocean One mall on the pier. I knew I had to work Atlantic City into an episode of my show to pay tribute to a place that meant so much to me growing up."

"It was a thrill to recreate it here in Los Angeles... although it wasn't easy," admitted Goldberg. "There is only one Atlantic City!"

"Atlantic City is ecstatic that The Goldbergs are featuring our city in their season premiere," said Frank M. Gilliam, Jr., Mayor, Atlantic City. "The executive producer of the show, Adam F. Goldberg who has very fond memories of his time spent in Atlantic City, feels the way that we all do. Everyone loves Atlantic City! We look forward to seeing the show on September 26."

"Atlantic City has a rich and storied history that resonates with many different generations that can identify our famous beaches, and Boardwalk," stated Jim Wood, president and CEO for Meet AC and the Atlantic City Film Commission. "We're excited to see Adam F. Goldberg's vision of iconic Atlantic City landmarks in the season premiere of The Goldbergs. We hope all who watch the episode will remember their fond memories of AC and want to visit in the near future."

Adam F. Goldberg and Doug Robinson are executive producers. The episode is produced by Adam F. Goldberg Productions, Doug Robinson Productions, and Happy Madison in association with Sony Pictures Television.
