As first reported in The Hollywood Reporter, the cooking series known as THE FABULOUS BEEKMAN BOYS will soon be switching cable networks from Planet Green to the Cooking Channel.
The series stars former Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia vice president Brent Ridge and "drag queen-turned-ad executive" Josh Kilmer-Purcell. The Cooking Channel will re-air the first two seasons of the show with additional footage.
The stars tell the Reporter, "We really enjoyed working with the team at Planet Green and Discovery, but unfortunately the Planet Green network is leaving the airwaves and will cease to exist. As a result, The Fabulous Beekman Boys would have been left without a home.” Earlier this week, Planet Green announced it would be renamed Destination America.
The statement continues, “We are grateful to our friends and fans who have been very supportive and passionate, insisting that the show return. Networks took note and recognized the value of the show as a franchise and we are thrilled to inform you that we have found a new home for the show. We are now officially part of the Scripps family of networks and will return to television later this year on The Cooking Channel."
The duos cookbook, The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbook, became a bestseller. They recently released a memoir, The Bucolic Plague, which is being developed into a scripted series by One Two Punch Productions. They also recently signed a licensing deal for Beekman 1802 with Brand Central. In addition, Josh and Brent may be making guest starring appearances on the upcoming season of Bravo's 'Real Housewives of New York'.
