Tough guy actor Robert Davi (License To Kill,The Goonies, Die Hard) traded stories this past weekend with American Idol winner David Cook while hanging out at La Mela's Restaurant in NYC's Little Italy. Davi was in town promoting his new DooWop caper film THE DUKES which he directed and stars in opposite fellow New Yorkers Chazz Palminteri and Peter Bogdanovich.  Cook was in town promoting his new album on MTV's TRL.

Gotham-based indie production and distribution company CAVU Pictures is set to release actor Robert Davi's directorial debut THE DUKES, the film opened in New York on November 14th, andwill soon be seen nationally beginning November 21st.

THE DUKES is the wry comic tale of a down-and-out Doo Wop band who take a bumbling detour into burglary in their endless quest to make good on their dreams.  Featuring an accomplished ensemble cast, including Robert Davi (from "The Goonies", "Die Hard", "License To Kill"), Chazz Palminteri (pictured) and Peter Bogdanovich, "The Dukes" balances heart and humor with a soundtrack filled with 1960s hits. The film also stars Miriam Margolyes, Frank D'Amico, Elya Baskin, Dominic Scott Kay, Bruce Weitz and Melora Hardin.

THE DUKES was an Official Selection at the Newport Beach Film Festival, Palm Beach International Film Festival, Cinema Rome Film Festival, and won the Best Director Award at the Queens Film Festival, the Special Jury Award and Best Director awards at the Monte Carlo Comedy Film Festival.

CAVU Pictures was started in 2001 by filmmakers Michael Sergio and Isil Bagdadi to finance, develop, produce and distribute independent films. Some of CAVU's releases include "Under Hellgate Bridge," "The Holy Land," "The Real Dirt on Farmer John," "Trailer Park Boys: The Movie", Sean Baker and Shih-Ching Tsou's critically acclaimed film "Take Out" which is currently in theatrical release, and the upcoming release of Matthew Bonifacio's Sundance hit "Lbs."

ISIL BAGDADI, President of Distribution & Marketing, CAVU Pictures:  "We are extremely excited to be releasing an entertaining mainstream indie-film like THE DUKES, and to be working with stars of the caliber of Chazz Palminteri, Robert Davi and Peter Bogdanovich."

ROBERT DAVI, Writer/Producer/Director, THE DUKES:   "With THE DUKES, I wanted to tell a story that would appeal to the Everyman– a story filled with music and humor that was raw and honest but also very positive, a story about that American spirit that makes people want to pick themselves back up and get back in the game."
