According to the New York Times Arts Beat Blog, Comedy Central's THE COLBERT REPORT has been suspended without explanation. A spokesman for the network issued a statement this morning which explained that the taping of the show had been suspended on Wednesday evening and would be again on Thursday due to “unforeseen circumstances”. No further details were released regarding the show's mysterious cancellations.

According to the report, audience members who had intended to be at the Wednesday taping had received notices about the cancellations and were given the opportunity to attend a taping at a future date. Comedy Central aired a repeat broadcast of the satirical news show on Wednesday evening.

Steve Albani, a spokesman for Comedy Central wrote in an email that “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16.” The show does not tape new episodes on Fridays.
