As expected, TBS finished the year as basic cable's #1 network in Primetime delivery of adults 18-34 and adults 18-49 for 2013, ending a seven-year winning streak by USA in the 18-49 demo.
TBS celebrated the holiday with its annual 24 Hours of A CHRISTMAS STORY, and this year's performance outpaced last year's solid delivery. Overall, the 24-hour block (Tuesday 8 p.m. - Wednesday 8 p.m.) unwrapped 3.3 million total viewers (+9% vs. year-ago) and 1.7 million adults 18-49 (+3%). The block drew 5 million viewers for the 8 p.m. Christmas Eve telecast, while the 10 a.m. Christmas morning telecast drew the most adults 18-49 of this year's marathon, with 2.6 million. Both of those telecasts ranked among cable's Top 5 programs for the week in each demo.
TBS's
Ground Floor scored its biggest Live + 3 deliveries of the season among adults 18-49, with last Thursday's episode drawing 1.1 million viewers in the demo (+5% vs. the prior week's episode). The comedy drew 1.9 million total viewers in Live + 3 and 549,000 adults 18-34.
TBS's telecasts of
The Big Bang Theory accounted for 19 of basic cable's Top 20 sitcom telecasts among total viewers last week. The series, which finished 2013 as basic cable's #1 off-net series for the third year in a row, also chalked up 17 of the Top 20 sitcom telecasts among adults 18-49.
Adult Swim
Adult Swim's average Total Day Delivery performance across December 2013 ranked #1 among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24 & 18-34 on basic cable. Compared to December 2012, Total Day Delivery overall grew among men 18-34 by 3% and men 18-49 by 4%.
Adult Swim programming accounted for 21 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the month among adults 18-34, and 19 of the top 50 among men 18-34, both more than any other network.
Cartoon Network
Across December 2013,
Cartoon Network ranked as the #1 television network among boys 6-11 & 9-14 on Monday and Tuesday Night (7-9 p.m.), and the #1 network among all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 on Saturday Night (7-9 p.m.).
Compared to December 2012, Cartoon Network's Early Evening Prime delivery average grew by 2% among kids 6-11 and 1% among kids 9-14.
Monday Night's 7-9 p.m. average delivery grew between 5% and 9% among kids 6-11 & 9-14 and between 3% and 9% all targeted boy demos vs. last year.
Adventure Time (7 p.m.) and
Regular Show (7:30 p.m.) both ranked #1 in their time periods among boys 6-11 & 9-14, with episode premieres in December earning double-digit gains across all kids & boy demos.
Steven Universe (8 p.m.) also ranked #1 in its Monday timeslot among boys 2-11 & 6-11.
Tuesday Night's early prime (7-9 p.m.) earned double-digit growth-between 10% and 19%-across all targeted kids and boys vs. last year. New episodes of Total Drama All-Stars (7 p.m.),
The Amazing World of Gumball (7:30 p.m.) and
Uncle Grandpa (8 p.m.) all posted double-digit delivery gains among kids and boys, ranging between 25% and 81%. Total Drama All-Stars ranked #1 in its time period among kids 9-14 and boys 6-11 & 9-14, and
The Amazing World of Gumball won its timeslot among boys 9-14.
TNT
For the second consecutive week, TNT's hit drama
Major Crimes ranked as basic cable's #1 original series last week. The Monday, Dec. 23, episode scored more than 6 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery (+2% vs. the prior week), its best performance of the winter. The show also drew 1.8 million adults 25-54 and 1.2 million adults 18-49 in Live + 3.
Major Crimes finished the year as one of basic cable's Top 10 original series of 2013.
