Sylvester Stallone is officially on board to direct and produce the sequel to the Rocky-spinoff CREED, as reported by Deadline. The legendary star, who won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar for his role in CREED, confirmed the news on his Instagram.

CREED follows the story of Adonis Johnson Creed (played by Michael B. Jordan), who is the son of Apollo Creed, the boxer from ROCKY. Creed starts training with Rocky Balboa (Stallone) to become a better boxer and better person. The movie grossed over $100 million in North America and over $173 million worldwide.

It has been rumored that CREED 2 may follow Jordan's Creed as he enters the ring with the son of Ivan Drago, who killed Apollo Creed in ROCKY IV.

Stallone hinted at the sequel a month ago on his Instagram, when he shared a photo from CREED, with the caption "getting stronger."

It was previously reported that Stallone was writing the script to CREED 2, but that has not been confirmed.

Michael B. Jordan will return as Adonis Johnson Creed. CREED 2 will start production in 2018.
