Syfy and NYC & Company, New York City's official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, today announced the full lineup of free, family-friendly Halloween-themed activities during the Syfy HalloweeNYC Fest.
As part of Syfy's month-long 31 Days of HalloweeNYC celebration, Syfy HalloweeNYC Fest will bring exciting public events to the Flatiron Plaza (at 23rd Street between Fifth Avenue and Broadway) on October 26-28, 11AM-6PM each day, featuring activities such as Halloween craft decorating, musical performances, magicians, face painting and photo booth opportunities.
Events named after popular Syfy shows will be offered during the three-day celebration: a Hot Set Hands-On Crafts Center, Ghost Hunters Goodies snack station, green-screen Paranormal Witness Photo Booth, and a Face Off Face-Painting Station, where guests will be transformed from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Families can also enjoy musical performances on the Syfy Stage.
For the fourth consecutive year, The Hershey Company will serve as category-exclusive advertising partner of 31 Days, and in 2012 they've expanded their partnership to be truly multiplatform, including presence on-air and on Syfy.com throughout the month. In addition, Hershey brands will be featured on-ground at various 31 Days of HalloweeNYC events
Said Michael Engleman, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Global Brand Strategy, Syfy and Chiller: "Syfy is delighted to partner with NYC & Company to create this robust weekend of entertainment for the entire family. As well, we're thrilled, for the very first year, to support the Department of Youth and Community Development's annual Halloween Extravaganza for children."
"Thousands of New Yorkers and visitors gather each year in New York City to celebrate Halloween," said
George Fertitta, CEO of NYC & Company. "Every year, the holiday generates excitement across the five boroughs and showcases New York City's vibrant atmosphere. We encourage everyone to take advantage of Syfy HalloweeNYC Fest and enjoy an array of unique experiences for every age and interest."
This October, Syfy will also work with NYC Department of Youth and Community Development to throw a private Halloween party for their Cornerstone Program youth participants. The Syfy-sponsored Halloween party will include face painting, pumpkin decorating and a magician, among other activities. In addition, Syfy will make a contribution to DYCD to support their ongoing efforts.
"Halloween is a time for children to imagine, be creative and have fun, and Syfy's participation in the Polo Grounds Halloween party allows kids to do that," said Jeanne B. Mullgrav, DYCD Commissioner. "We're also thrilled that Syfy's contribution to DYCD will support additional activities for youth in the arts."
