Steven Seagal Would 'Remotely Consider' Run for Arizona Governor

People.com reports that Steven Seagal would consider the possibility of running for Governor of the state of Arizona. The actor, best known for his role in the film 'Under Siege', told Phoenix news station ABC15, that while at first "It was kind of a joke," he "would remotely consider" the possibility of leaving his action film career behind for the world of politics.

The 61-year-old made his comments while promoting his new Reelz Channel reality series, Steven Seagal - Lawman: Maricopa County in which he appears alongside outspoken Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose public views on racial profiling have made him a controversial figure in the debate on immigration law.

When asked about what he considers to be the number one issue facing Arizona, Seagal commented, "I think it's open borders. I think that across these borders any kind of terrorism can come, and does come."

He went on to defend his costar, the self-proclaimed "America's Toughest Sheriff" saying, "Is Joe Arpaio a racist? No, he's not. And I'm not going to say I don't think he's not, he's not."
