According to published reports, Nu Image/Millennium Films has announced the cast for the upcoming film "Conan." Broadway actor and playwright Stephen Lang will join the cast along with Rose McGowan, Rachel Nichols, Ron Perlman, Said taghmaoui , Leo Howard, and Jason Momoa who will star as Conan.

"Conan" tells the tale of Conan the Cimmerian and his adventures across the continent of Hyboria. The film is based on Robert E. Howard's books and is written by Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer, Sean Hood, and Andrew Lobel. Conan, the mythical hero, is on a mission to avenge his father's murder and the slaughter of his village.

The film has been in the making for a decade- after Paradox and Warner Bros. Decided against a new deal three years ago, the rights went to Nu Image. The film's producers are Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, Joe Gatta, and Fredrik Malmberg. Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short, George Furla, and Henry Winterstern are the executive producers.

Lang will play a sadistic warlord, McGowan will play a human/witch half-breed, Howard will portray young Conan, and Perlman will play Conan's father.

Lang played one of Dustin Hoffman's sons (Happy) in the Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman in 1984 and the 1985 television movie. In 1992, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his lead role in The Speed of Darkness. He was the first to play the role of Colonel Nathan Jessup in A Few Good Men, a role made famous on film (1992) by Jack Nicholson. He is the winner of over half a dozen theatre awards including the Drama Desk and Helen Hayes awards.

Before Arthur Miller's death in February 2005, Lang appeared in his longtime friend's last play which was titled Finishing the Picture. It premiered at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago in the Fall of 2004. This was the same theatre where Lang had the second run of his own play Beyond Glory, which had premiered in Arlington, Virginia early in 2004. In 2006 he played the role of Colonel Littlefield in John Patrick Shanley's play Defiance. He brought Beyond Glory to Roundabout's Off-Broadway Laura Pels Theatre in 2007. Since its New York City premiere, Beyond Glory has been nominated for a Drama Desk Award and a Lucille Lortel Award both for outstanding solo performance.

Lang's other Broadway performances include WAIT UNTIL DARK, HAMLET, and SAINT JOAN.
Lang's film credits include the recent sci-fi epic "Avatar," "The Men Who Stare at Goats," "Public Enemies," and "The Treatment."

Marcus Nispel began lensing for the film on Monday at Nu Boyana Studios in Sofia, Bulgaria. The film will be released domestically by Lionsgate.
