Stephen Colbert to Publish Children's Book

According to the Hollywood Reporter, comedian Stephen Colbert will be publishing a children's book to be titled I AM A POLE (AND SO CAN YOU) this May. The book will center on "a flag pole's search for its identity".

The Comedy Central host had made a promise to reknown children's author Maurice Sendak in January that he would "cash in" and write a celebrity children's book of his own. Colbert even convinced the famed author to endorse his upcoming project by cajoing him into saying that the book is "terribly ordinary, but  the sad thing is I like it.”

Joked Colbert about his book, "I hope the minutes you and your loved ones spend reading it are as fulfilling as the minutes I spent writing it.”

Grand Central Publishing will once again be behind Colbert's latest project. The company published Colbert's bestseller I Am America (And So Can You!) in 2007 and it will publish his next book, America Again: Re-Becoming the Greatness We Never Weren’t this October.
