According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stellan Skarsgard is in talks to come aboard Kenneth Branagh's live action film adaptation of CINDERELLA for Disney.

Should a deal be reached, Skarsgard would play the king's adviser, the grand duke, "who just may have ulterior motives in his guidance."

For the original announcement, head on over to The Hollywood Reporter.

DOWNTON ABBEY's Lily James will take the title role in the film, with Cate Blanchett as the iconic evil stepmother, GAME OF THRONES' Richard Madden as the prince, and Helena Bonham Carter as The Fairy godmother. Sophie McShera and Holliday Granger will play Cinderella's step-sisters.

CINDERELLA is set to begin production this fall in London.

Skarsgard has appeared in such films as GOOD WILL HUNTING, the U.S. version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, THE AVENGERS, THOR, and many more. He can next be seen in Julian Fellowes' ROMEO and Juliet, and Lars von Trier's NYMPHOMANIAC.
