Ray Milius, Executive Vice President of Programming Operations for Starz, announced the promotion of Brad Martens to Senior Vice President, Broadcast Engineering and Jason Wyrick to Senior Vice President, Digital Platforms.
Based in the company's Colorado headquarters, Martens is responsible for the engineering, operations and transmission of the Starz and Starz ENCORE channels. He oversees the broadcast engineering and operations team while supervising the quality control of on-air and on-demand product playback and distribution. Martens collaborates daily with programming, media systems and IT development, IT services, sales, marketing and legal departments, as well as with cable/DBS operators, broadcast equipment companies, set-top manufacturers, IPTV systems manufacturers, satellite providers and satellite encoding & transmission manufacturers and suppliers to support/expand Starz' linear channels, on-demand products, IP streaming products, and development of new products and services.
Prior to joining the Starz engineering team in 2008, Martens was a Project Engineer with Beck Associates designing and integrating High Definition television technology into multiple major market broadcast television stations. Before joining Beck, Martens served as Senior Director of Engineering and Operations for TCI/AT&T Broadband's Digital Media Center where he was responsible for the technical facilities and channel origination operations of numerous cable networks, post production and studio production facilities.
Martens is a graduate of the University of Colorado - Denver with a B.S. in Business and Information Systems.
Wyrick is responsible for all technical aspects of externally facing systems including the Starz app, Starz.com and affiliate integrations. He oversees the Digital Platforms team of more than 50 developers, creators and application engineers, leading the development, launch and ongoing management of digital products and services. He also collaborates with the programming, marketing, IT development, sales and legal teams in planning, strategy and execution of Starz content, services, products and experiences including mobile applications, web experiences and customer support.
Also based in the company's Colorado headquarters, Wyrick joined Starz in 2005 and was most recently Vice President of Digital Platforms at Starz. Prior to joining the company, Wyrick held a variety of management and engineering positions at both Fortune 500 companies as well as startups. Wyrick is a graduate of the University of Colorado - Boulder with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering.
