According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Staples-owned company Quill.com has reached a licensing agreement with NBC Universal that will enable them to use the brand name 'Dunder Mifflin' for their copy paper. The name refers to the fictional paper company featured on the hit NBC comedy show, THE OFFICE.
The packaging for the product will include slogans that come directly from the show such as "Our motto is, Quabity First" and "Get Your Scrant on.” NBC Universal will reportedly receive 6 percent of the sales from the Dunder Mifflin brand. Due to increasing use of email and PDF's, sales of copy paper are currently decreasing. The company hopes that using the name from the popular NBC show will attract customers to its product line.
This is not the first time that products have featured the names from film and TV shows. The successful restaurant chain "Bubba Gump's" came from the hit movie 'Forest Gump' and more recently, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, became a successful product line after it appeared in the Harry Potter film series
