This new Spotlight slate reflects the company's aggressive ambition to bring larger and more commercial product to the marketplace. Matt McCombs, Spotlight CEO made the announcement today.
"We're thrilled to announce such a strong line up in our upcoming slate," said McCombs. "They not only have a star-studded and talented cast, but the themes of the films offer something for everyone."
The coming of age film YOSEMITE follows two young boys as they journey to California's Yosemite Park with their father. The film is produced by James Franco's Rabbit Bandini Productions. This is the fourth collaboration between Spotlight and Rabbit Bandini, which include
THE COLOR OF TIME starring Franco, Mila Kunis and Jessica Chastain.
The animated family film POLAR ADVENTURE follows a lovable penguin, who returns to his home in the South Pole in search of his missing grandfather. The film is produced by Ori Animation, a leader in animation in China. POLAR ADVENTURE will be released on 3,000 screens in China this summer and Spotlight is currently working on the English-language dub of the picture.
ELY AND NAOMI'S NO KISS LIST is a romantic comedy based on the celebrated novel of the same name written by the authors of NICK AND NORAH'S INFINITE PLAYLIST. Victoria Justice's character is a freshman in college who is in love with her lifelong friend... the only catch is that he is gay.
HITS, the off-center comedy, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The film is written and directed by David Cross and stars Meredith Hagner, Michael Cera and Julia Stiles.
CHICKLIT is a witty British comedy about a group of small town men who attempt to raise money to save their failing local pub by writing a woman's erotic novel in the vein of
FIFTY SHADES OF GREY under a female pseudonym. They not only succeed in writing a hugely successful novel, but eventually they must reveal to the public the sexy young "author" behind the phenomena.
These new films join an impressive list of Spotlight titles that include the thriller THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, starring Rosamund Pike, the dramatic-comedy CHLOE AND THEO starring Dakota Johnson.
