Houston Texans' J.J. Watt and Houston Astros' Jose Altuve were named Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year yesterday evening at Sports Illustrated's annual awards, held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year, hosted by comedian Joel McHale, will debut as a one-hour special this Friday, December 8, at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
Other award recipients included: Colin Kaepernick (SI Muhammad Ali Legacy Award), 10-year-old Maxwell "Bunchie" Young (SI Kids SportsKid of the Year), Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid (Rising Star), Minnesota Lynx's Maya Moore (Performer of the Year) and World Series Champion Carlos Beltran (Hope Award).
Award presenters included: 20-time Grammy winner Beyoncé, The Daily Show's Trevor Noah, Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, and Questlove of Grammy-winning group The Roots.
