Sony Teases Future SPIDER-MAN Sequels, Spin-Offs

Sony is intent on widening the net of SPIDER-MAN's universe.

In an investor Q&A session today, Sony Pictures Entertainment's Michael Lynton confirmed that the studio is working on bringing a number of potential scripts to the big screen following THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

"We do very much have the ambition about creating a bigger universe around Spider-Man. There are a number of scripts in the works" which feature a number of fan-favorites from the series, Lynton said, according to Deadline.

Though no other details were given, he confirmed that the studio is Sony is "working closely with Marvel and Disney," the publication reports.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are set to reprise their roles of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey in the sequel, with Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborne, Sally Field as Peter's Aunt May, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Chris Cooper as The Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxxas Electro.

The Amazing Spider-Man reexamined the origin story of Peter Parker who, like most teenagers his age, is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held...a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 swings into theaters on May 2, 2014.
