According to Sony, you can never have too much Spidey.
Jeff Blake, Sony Pictures's Chairman of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution announced today that the studio has ordered two more installments of The Amazing Spider-Man franchise - and each has received a tentative release date. The third film is set to swing into theaters on June 16, 2016, and the fourth on May 4, 2018
"Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we're thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years," Blake said in a statement.
Production on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is well underway in New York City. The film will be released on May 2, 2014.
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone reprise their roles of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey in the sequel, with Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborne, Sally Field as Peter's Aunt May, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Chris Cooper as The Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxx as Electro.
The Amazing Spider-Man reexamined the origin story of Peter Parker who, like most teenagers his age, is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held...a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man.
