Sony Movie Channel salutes veterans with a stacked Memorial Day Marathon event on Monday, May 25, starting at 6:45 a.m. ET. The patriotic lineup puts the spotlight on 14 WWII and Military classics featuring iconic performances from silver screen titans Denzel Washington, Kirk Douglas, Tom Selleck, Ronald Reagan, Robert Mitchum, and many more.
The celebration kicks off with a pair of maritime favorites starring
Jack Lemmon as the captain of THE WACKIEST SHIP IN THE ARMY, and Ronald and Nancy Reagan in the 1957 love triangle HELLCATS OF THE NAVY; followed by the Oscar®-nominated WWII murder mystery A SOLDIER'S STORY, starring
Howard Rollins and
Adolph Caesar, and featuring
Denzel Washington in one of his earliest roles; and
Jeff Daniels is a lieutenant on trial in the 1988 Robert
ALTMAN drama THE CAINE MUTINY COURT-MARTIAL.
Then, U.S. Army sergeant
Jim Belushi takes on an advancing German battalion in the 1995 remake of the
Humphrey Bogart staple SAHARA;
Tom Selleck prepares for war in the Emmy-nominated biopic IKE: COUNTDOWN TO D-DAY; Alan Ladd leads the charge against a German radar station in PARATROOPER; Pat O'Brien and
Cameron Mitchell stave off kamikazes in OKINAWA; Robert Mitchum and
