According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures has let go of its upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, which would have stared Michael Fassbender as the Apple mogul.
The reason for Sony's exit is unclear, but partner producer Annapurna Pictures had allegedly backed out before Sony's final decision.
Fassbender was being eyed by director Danny Boyle for the lead role after Christian Bale departed the project, saying he wasn't the right fit. Seth Rogen was in talks for the part of Steve Wozniak, and Scarlett Johansson had also just been offered a role.
Aaron Sorkin penned the script for the film, based on Walter Isaacson's biography of Jobs. Produced by Scott Rudin, Guymon Casady and Mark Gordon, the movie was set to begin production this winter. It would have been divided into three acts, each showing Jobs in preparation for an upcoming presentation that would eventually change his life and the future of his company.
Ashton Kutcher portrayed Steve Jobs in last year's film JOBS, which was considered a critical and commercial failure.Videos
