Disney's "Descendants" star Sofia Carson and breakout pop singer Daya have been named performers at the 2016 RADIO DISNEY MUSIC AWARDS (RDMA), music's biggest event for families. Previously announced chart-topping performers include Ariana Grande, Flo Rida, DNCE, Hailee Steinfeld, Laura Marano, Kelsea Ballerini, Zara Larsson and Jordan Smith. The event takes place SATURDAY, APRIL 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The two-hour television special "Disney Channel Presents the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards" originating from the event to be presented SUNDAY, MAY 1 (7:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on Disney Channel.
Fans can continue to cast their votes for their favorite songs and artists until Sunday, April 10 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Disney Channel Original Movie "Descendants," recently signed as a recording artist with Hollywood Records and Republic Records. The 2016 RDMA marks the first televised performance of her debut single, "Love Is The Name." Carson also stars in the upcoming
Disney Channel Original Movie "Adventures In Babysitting," a contemporary re-imagined tale of the hugely popular 1980s blockbuster of the same name.
Rising star Daya, who is nominated for "The Freshest - Best New Artist" at the 2016 RDMA, has already reached platinum with her debut single "Hide Away." In 2015, at only 17-years-old, Daya released her self-titled EP under budding music label Artbeatz. Her second single, "Sit Still, Look Pretty," has been streamed almost 10 million times on Spotify.
