On this Sunday's episode of Showtime's drama series THE BORGIAS, truth breeds hatred. Cowardly escaping the Sforza's surprise reinforcements, Juan returns to Rome flaunting a wounded leg and fabricated story about his valiant conduct at his army's defeat at Forli. Unbeknownst to Juan, his general rescues Caterina's son Benito and brings him to Rome as a last-minute effort to salvage the humiliating incident. Cesare learns of the Sforza son's captivity and arranges for the boy to divulge the truth of Juan's cowardice to the Pope, forcing Alexander to confront his beloved Juan. Juan, now dying from syphilis, turns to opium to dull his pain.
Meanwhile, the crafty Cardinal Della Rovere's plan faces one last hurdle: how to replace the Pope's taster with his own? While he ponders the moral dilemma of killing a good man for a greater end, his young accomplice Antonello seizes the opportunity to push the mission along.
THE BORGIAS airs at 10 P.M. ET/PT on Showtime.
