Tomorrow, DR. OZ. welcomes back famed actor and star of his self-titled sitcom series, DR. KEN Jeong. He returns to the show with his unique brand of medicine and laughter. Hear about how he connects medicine, comedy, and his personal life.
On writing an episode inspired by his wife's cancer, DR. KEN says: "My real-life wife is a breast cancer SURVIVOR and she's still cancer free going on, like, nine years. So we're very grateful... We'll be co-writing a script, where I'm actually still in the process of working on, you know, where me and my TV wife has a cancer scare." He continues, saying that his wife "actually helped outline the episode of the cancer scare episode that I'm working on. So if anything, this year, she's been--she's really been my creative partner as well as my life partner."
On the parallels between medicine and media, DR. KEN states: "I'm, like you, I'm very hands on, on my show, and I find--I was telling my wife, this is just like--oh, my god, it's just like being on call all the time. You know, on creative call. It's not life or death, you know, but this is, for what I do, it's all fictionalized, but it's all--I'm on creative call, like, 24/7." The two agree that stamina, intensity, and honesty are both important in medicine and media.
On what happens to his character from The Hangover, Mr. Chow, when he ingests cocaine, DR. KEN explains, "Here you see the coronary LAD, the left anterior descending artery, the main artery of the heart in the front. Oh, it's going fast. It's beating faster and faster and if you look right here, you see the heart valves and you see the blood vessels. And then you see the conductivity. That's the electrical impulse of the heart. And, uh, yeah, Chow is going to die."
On the death rumors of his iconic character Mr. Chow, DR. KEN reveals: "Medically-I think Chow would have died. You know, I think it was just-it was in my contract to keep Chow alive towards the end of the movie... So I could make a third one so-but I think, medically speaking, he would have been dead a long time ago."
