She had the whole world singing along with her anthem "I Will Survive," one of the Disco era's biggest hits and the only one to win a Grammy Award. Now, Gloria Gaynor welcomes our cameras into her beautiful New Jersey home, where she tells the story of her rise in the music business, starting out as a jazz singer, and how she knew "I Will Survive" would be a hit the moment she read the lyrics. Gaynor opens up about the sexual molestation she endured as a child and young woman, and gives viewers a preview of her new Contemporary Christian album.
Next, revealing that "making music was the best and the worst time of my life," singer Montell Jordan reveals why he left the music business at the height of his success, and then later became a minister. Jordan shares about growing up in South Central L.A. and the man who kept him out of trouble there, as well as the infidelity
SCANDAL that forced him to choose his marriage over music.
Then, Emmy-nominated actor John Amos has excelled on the small screen in both the epic dramatic mini-series "Roots," and as James Evans, Sr. on Norman Lear's hit comedy "Good Times." Amos recalls some of the behind-the-scenes drama at "Good Times," and shares his passion for teaching sailing to disadvantaged young people. Next, actress Mel Harris recalls the wonderful years she spent working on "thirtysomething," the groundbreaking series of the late 1980s. Harris talks about being married six times, introduces one of her adult sons, and shares her excitement about co-starring in the new
Hulu series "Shut Eye."
Then, our cameras catch up with celebrity go-to hairdresser Ken Paves, as he cuts the hair of his close friend and client, Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin. Finally, we check in with the Mathias Quadruplets, whose delightful "laughing babies" home video took the top prize from "America's Funniest Home Videos" nearly 16 years ago.
