Iconic music group Sister Sledge have announced plans for a feature film based on the lives of the legendary four sisters from Philadelphia, who rose to prominence and found worldwide success with the release of the remarkable We are Family album. Entitled Life Song, based on the memoirs of one of the founding members Kim Sledge, the biographical film will delve into THE STORY BEHIND music's most famous sisters.

Boasting an abundance of TIMELESS classics, Sister Sledge are behind decade defining hits such as 'Lost In Music', 'He's The Greatest Dancer', 'Thinking of You' and the seminal classic 'We are Family'. Originally formed of sisters Debbie, Joni, Kathy and Kim Sledge, Sister Sledge's genre diverse discography spans jazz, soul, gospel, disco, and R&B.

The film is set to follow the lives of the group through the eyes of Kim Sledge, chronicling a journey of life, love, loss and learning. Life Song promises a story steeped in rich historical content, charting the career of the sisters against the backdrop of a changing America.

Life Song will highlight the formative years of the Sledge sisters, including the significant influence of their great uncle, Hollywood composer Jester Hairston, the guiding hand of their beloved grandmother, Viola Hairston Williams, a Julliard trained opera singer, and the loving yet turbulent lives of their parents, both of whom were entertainers during the Harlem Renaissance.

From their 1971 debut to recent years, the film will span decades and include the band's most illustrious milestones, from their memorable performance in AFRICA at Muhammed Ali's legendary Rumble in the Jungle boxing match, to their iconic show for Pope Francis during the Papal visit to Philadelphia and recent recognition at the Royal wedding of 2018.

The film will also explore how life in America changed around them. From being the first African American family to move into their suburb during a time of civil unrest and racial tensions, to their enduring performance in the nation's capital at the White House, Life Song will depict Sister Sledge's RISE to fame amidst the changing power dynamics in the home and the greater shifts within culture and society.

Life Song will feature the many luminaries of the era, including the group's experiences with musical greats such as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, Elton John, Earth Wind and Fire and Cher.

With Life Song set to be a legendary musical biopic of epic proportion, audiences can also expect more than a glimpse at the sensational talents of the next generation of Sledges. Speaking about the announcement of the film, Kim Sledge, one of the founding members of the band, said "I'm ecstatic to have been given the privilege to share our LIFE STORY through my eyes. It's been an awe-inspiring journey through generations of art, heart and music!"

Project managing the feature film will be Lou Weisbach, CEO of Merch Time, a company that is implementing an innovative sourcing model to globally disrupt the business of proprietary and non-proprietary imprinted promotional products. Founded by Lou after he built the largest Logo merchandising company in the world, Merch Time additionally focuses on exclusive deals with intellectual properties.

As a long-standing associate to the Sledge Family, Lou is personally excited to bring their inspiring story to the big screen. He said, "We at Merch Time are honored to exclusively represent this unique story of the Sledge family; a journey through a century of accomplishment: a great American story."
