According to Frominsidethebox.com, Simon Cowell, producer of the Fox singing competition THE X FACTOR, has put out an offer to producers of NBC's 'The Voice' and Fox's 'American Idol' to have a 'super final' among the winners of his show and the two higher rated programs. Unfortunately for Cowell, the concept is being met with lukewarm responses at best.

Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer of 'American Idol' responded to Cowell's challenge on his Twitter account, posting, "@simoncowell suggests the IDOL winner should take on the voice and x-factor winners. The problem is the Idol winner will be a star by then."

Many in the industry believe the stunt is Cowell's attempt to stir up interest in his struggling TV show which ended its first season last December with less than stellar ratings. Cowell and the creators of the show have promised major changes in the upcoming season, including new judges and a new host. Last month it was announced that judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones had all been let go from their duties on the competition. Recent reports have circulated that  A-list celebrities including Janet Jackson and Pink, were being considered for the open positions.

Auditions for the second season of THE X FACTOR will begin in March.
