According to the Hollywood Reporter, Simon Cowell has decided against a Lady Gaga and Madonna themed episode and instead have the contestants sing classic rock songs for next week's THE X FACTOR competition.

In discussing last week's episode of the hit show on FOX, Cowell told the Hollywood Reporter, "I didn't think the production was very good, I didn't like the guest artist [Outasight], we all looked tired.  'You'll find out... after the break.' Where have I heard that before? I don't like that. I can always feel the energy, and I've got to admit, sitting there last week was hard work. This week, it all felt better - like we clicked."

While Cowell confirmed that his original idea for next week's competition was to have the remaining contestants sing songs by Lady Gaga and Madonna, he revealed that he had changed his mind due to concerns that the show would become too choreographed. The judge believes that singing rock music encourages the contestants to use the entire stage in their performances.

Judge L.A. Reid was also enthused over the idea of a rock themed show for next week and is already considering the huge range of options which are now open for him to chose from.  In the article, he explained,"There's Otis Redding, there's Bob Marley, there's Ike and Tina Turner, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles... I don't know what that criteria might be, but I'm gonna stretch that envelope as wide as I can."
