Showtime Receives Six Golden Globe Nominations  Image

SHOWTIME was honored with six Golden Globe nominations this morning including the new comedy series KIDDING and limited series ESCAPE AT DANNEMORA. The network also received four lead acting nominations from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, including nods for ESCAPE AT DANNEMORA star Patricia Arquette, PATRICK MELROSE star Benedict Cumberbatch, KIDDING's Jim Carrey and WHO IS AMERICA? creator and star Sacha Baron Cohen.

Freshman comedy series KIDDING was honored with a nomination for Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical. The series' star Jim Carrey was also nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical. Carrey's role as Jeff Pickles is his first series regular role in more than two decades. This is Carrey's first nomination for a television performance, after previously being nominated by the HFPA in film five times.

ESCAPE AT DANNEMORA received top honors for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. The HFPA also recognized lead actress Patricia Arquette in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category for her role as Tilly Mitchell. This is Arquette's fifth Golden Globe nomination, her first for a limited series. Executive produced and directed by Ben Stiller, ESCAPE AT DANNEMORA airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

PATRICK MELROSE star Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated with a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Earning the third nomination of his career, Cumberbatch was honored for his role as the title character in the limited series.

WHO IS AMERICA? star and series creator Sacha Baron Cohen received a nomination in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical category for portraying six new and distinct characters. Baron Cohen debuted his first new characters in 15 years. This is his second Golden Globe nomination overall.

The 76th Annual GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS will take place on Sunday, January 6, 2019, live from Beverly Hills.
