Academy Award-winning movie star and "Partridge Family" "mom" Shirley Jones just turned 75, yet that's not stopping her from trying something surprising and edgy.

The actress has been filming an episode of Benjamin Bratt's A&E series, "The Cleaner" in which she plays a boozing, faded chanteuse.

Shirley Jones started her career on Broadway at 17 years old in R&H's South Pacific. She was soon plucked out at 18 to star in 20th Century Fox's major motion picture of Oklahoma. She then went on to also star in the films Carousel and The Music Man.

She garnered an Oscar for her work in the film Elmer Gantry. She recently appeared on Broadway with son Patrick in 42nd Street. Her sons with Broadway star Jack Cassidy (She Loves Me) are Broadway stars David Cassidy (Blood Brothers), Shawn Cassidy (Blood Brothers), Patrick Cassidy (Assasins, 42nd St.) and also Ryan Cassidy.

Variety is reporting that Jones is working on a special for PBS, "Shirley, at 75, With Her Friends," and a concert tour with Florence Henderson that kicks off in Indianapolis in August.

"The Cleaner," inspired by the true story of a real-life "extreme interventionist," stars Benjamin Bratt as William "The Cleaner" Banks, who, after hitting rock-bottom from his own addictions after the birth of his daughter, strikes a tentative deal with God. Now along with his unconventional team, he helps people get away from their addictions by any means necessary.
