UPDATE: Following Sherri Shepherd's announcement tonight that she would be leaving ABC's long-running daytime talk show THE VIEW, newcomer Jenny McCarthy has also announced that she's following suit.
McCarthy announced her own departure earlier this evening on Twitter, posting two tweets and a photo (to the left): "If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters."
She followed it up with: "My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."
Original Story: Just after Barbara Walters' final appearance on The View in May, another of the show's co-hosts, Sherri Shepherd, has announced she will be leaving the daytime series.
"It's been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on," Shepherd said in a statement. "I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my Viewfamily and my fans for supporting me on this journey."
"The View," a live, one-hour daily talk show from ABC(11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET), features Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy. It's the original forum in which real women discuss everyday issues, share their opinions and engage in colorful conversations.
"The View" is owned and produced by ABC. Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie are executive producers.
"The View," is nominated for three Daytime Emmy awards including Outstanding Talk Show, Outstanding Talk Show Host and Outstanding Direction in a Talk Show. This is the show's 14th nomination in both the Outstanding Talk Show and Outstanding Talking Show Host categories having previously won in 2003 and 2009.
