Bringing enhanced matrimonial authority - not to mention "something new" - to her role, the soon-to-be-newlywed Sherri Shepherd has just signed on for her second season as host of GSN's hit show, THE NEWLYWED GAME. The new season of the daily strip show will premiere in April and will comprise 130 episodes. Shepherd's wedding to TV writer Lamar Sally will take place in August in Chicago. The new season of THE NEWLYWED GAME will premiere on Monday, April 18, on GSN.

"Now that I'm going to be a newlywed myself, I am especially excited to start my second season of THE NEWLYWED GAME," says Shepherd. "I've always had a great time with the couples on the show, but I have a feeling I'm going to relate to them in a whole new way!"

THE NEWLYWED GAME will be at the heart of an original "love block" of relationship-game show programming on GSN, along with BAGGAGE (featuring host Jerry Springer) and LOVE TRIANGLE (with host Wendy Williams). On BAGGAGE, one contestant and three prospective daters bring all their "baggage" to the table before the first date. LOVE TRIANGLE's unique talk-show/game-show format focuses on a dater caught in a real-life love triangle, as Williams helps him or her explore every aspect of both relationships en route to the dramatic moment when a life-changing decision is made.

"GSN has created a unique and highly successful franchise with our dating- and relationship-oriented game shows, and a big part of that is the great work Sherri has done as host of THE NEWLYWED GAME," says Kelly Goode, VP, Programming for GSN. "Having this series as the cornerstone of our new love-themed programming block will bring viewers an outstanding mix of humor, heart and the completely unpredictable."

Sherri Shepherd is a Daytime Emmy? Award-winning co-host of "The View" and an actress who appeared in the award-winning film "Precious" and will soon be seen in the upcoming feature "One for the Money." Shepherd's other film credits include "Who's Your Caddy," "Beauty Shop," "Cellular," "Guess Who" and "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa." She is a frequent guest star as Tracy Morgan's wife, Angie Jordan, on the Emmy award-winning series "30 Rock." Her other television credits include "Friends," "Less than Perfect," "Everybody Loves Raymond," "Joan of Arcadia," "Suddenly Susan," "The Jamie Foxx Show" and "Hot In Cleveland," to air in February 2011. She will also appear this year in TV Land's untitled Terri Minsky humorous entertainment pilot as the office drama queen opposite actress Christine Taylor.

Sherri Shepherd is part of a GSN talent roster that includes Drew Carey, Wendy Williams, Bill Engvall, Jerry Springer and Carrie Ann Inaba.

THE NEWLYWED GAME is GSN's modern installment of the classic series showcasing three newly married couples of wide-ranging backgrounds who face off in a series of question rounds. During each round, a spouse attempts to guess his or her mate's answer to questions about their relationship, ranging from the first time they met to the details of their love life. At the end of the game, the couple scoring the most points wins exciting prizes.

THE NEWLYWED GAME is produced by Michael Davies and his Production Company, Embassy Row, which is owned by Sony Pictures Television. Davies has brought audiences fan-favorite shows such as "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," "Power of 10," and the GSN original "Chain Reaction." Additionally, Sony Pictures Television serves as the worldwide distributor for THE NEWLYWED GAME.
