Shailene Woodley in Talks to Play Mary Jane Watson in Sequel to AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

As Variety reported earlier this afternoon, THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER star Shailene Woodley is officially in "early talks" to play Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming sequel to THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.
It was recently announced that Marc Webb would also be returning to direct the next film in the franchise. The first in what's being billed as a trilogy, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN opened this summer to both critical and box office success. It starred Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey, respectively.
Woodley is best known for starring in THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER and in the 2011 Oscar Nominated film, THE DESCENDANTS, in which she starred alongside George Clooney.
Production is set to begin in early 2013, and the casting process appears to be well underway. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is scheduled to open on May 2, 2014.
