After a week of rumors that Saturday Night Live head-writer Seth Meyers was the top contender to replace Regis Philbin as co-host of ABC's LIVE! morning talk show, the comedian made it clear that he has no intention of leaving his current position at NBC.
In an interview with The Sun-Sentinel, Meyers insisted, “’No, no, no, no, no. I know [Regis' replacement] is a very important thing down there. But, right now, what I would say to you: I’m really in love with the job I have. I’m very excited to be going back [to 'SNL'] for the election season, which is always fun.’”
Meyers is currently serving as a guest co-host alongside Kelly Ripa on LIVE! WITH KELLY.
According to last week's report, ABC had narrowed down its search for a co-host to three finalists, Meyers, former football star Michael Strahan, and singer/musician Josh Groban. Meyers is currently head writer on NBC's SNL where he is best known for his 'Weekend Update' news segment of the show. His film credits include the 3D film Journey to the Center of the Earth. He is currently writing and will star in the film Key Party.
