This Sunday on NBC's MEET THE PRESS, after the fiscal cliff, the focus turns to the next fight in the new Congress over spending. The president drew a line in the sand saying he won't negotiate over raising the country's debt limit, but Republicans have vowed to use it as a bargaining chip to get more spending cuts. Sunday, we'll talk to the man who negotiated with the White House on behalf of the GOP and now must navigate a divided party through the next big fight: Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

Then: Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles, the two men the president chose to study the country's fiscal woes and who have made it their mission to get the nation's debt under control, say the fiscal cliff deal doesn't go nearly far enough and that lawmakers missed a "magic moment" to do something big. They'll join us exclusively Sunday to tell us what needs to be done in the critical weeks ahead to get the country back on a sustainable fiscal path.

Also Sunday: The battle lines for the next fight were already being drawn before the members of the 113th Congress were sworn into office. Can Washington tackle the tough issues ahead, like raising the country's debt limit, in such a politically charged environment? Plus: Turmoil in the Republican party as even members of the party's leadership split their votes on the final deal. Has Speaker Boehner's power diminished in the wake of this bruising fight? Joining us: Freshman Senator from Maine AnGus King (I-ME), former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-GA), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA), former head of HP and Vice Chair of the NRSC Carly Fiorina, and Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne.
