Sedona's Village Movie Club Announces 2012 Season, Now thru 11/5

Village Movie Club has announced its upcoming films June – November 2012, playing at the Canyon Moon Theatre at 7:00 p.m. See details below (subject to change).

June 4th
Carnage 2011

Directed by Roman Polanski, based on the Tony Award-winning play – starring Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet and John C. Riley – Carnage is a razor sharp, biting comic drama centered on parental differences. After two boys duke it out on a playground, the parents of the "victim" invite the parents of the "bully" over to work out their issues. A polite discussion of childrearing soon escalates into verbal warfare, with all four parents revealing their true colors.

July 2nd
The Way 2010

The Way is a critically acclaimed inspirational story starring Martin Sheen playing Tom, an irascible American doctor who comes to St. Jean Pied de Port, France to collect The Remains of his adult son (played by Emilio Estevez) who was killed in the Pyrenees in a storm while walking The Camino de Santiago, also known as The Way of Saint James. Rather than return home, Tom decides embark on the historical pilgrimage to honor his son's desire to finish the journey. What Tom doesn't plan on, is the profound impact the journey will have on him and his "California Bubble Life".

August 6th
Poetry 2010

A sixty-something woman, faced with the discovery of a heinous family crime and in the Early Stages of Alzheimer's disease, finds strength and purpose when she enrolls in a poetry class. Winner of numerous film festival awards including best screenplay at the Cannes Film festival. N.Y. Times film critic Manhola Dargis included Poetry as one of the 10 best films of the year.

September 10th
The Artist 2011

NOTE SECOND MONDAY

Winner of five Academy Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor this modern-day silent film artfully recounts the poignant end of the silent-movie era in the late 1920s. The story contrasts the declining fortunes of a silent-screen superstar with his lover's rise to popularity as a darling of the "talkies."

October 1st
Jeff Who Lives At Home 2011

On his way to the store to buy wood glue, Jeff looks for signs from the universe to determine his path. However, a series of comedic and unexpected events leads him to cross paths with his family in the strangest of locations and circumstances. Jeff Who Lives at Home features veteran Susan Sarandon and up and coming stars Ed Helms and Jason Segel in a charming film about the struggles of life, family, relationships and their unexpected twist and turns

November 5th
Undefeated 2011

Set against the backdrop of a high school football season, Dan Lindsay and T.J. Martin's documentary Undefeated is an intimate chronicle of three underprivileged student-athletes from inner-city Memphis and the volunteer coach trying to help them beat the odds on and off the field. Undefeated was the winner of the Best Documentary at the 2011 Academy Awards.
