More than five million viewers tuned in to watch British actor John Cleese present: GLOBAL SPIRIT season 1, when the 10-part series originally aired on public television stations across the United States. Now, Cultural & Educational Media, together with presenting hosts Carlos Santana and Cindy Blackman Santana, and series host Phil Cousineau, is proud to announce the second season of this unique, thought-provoking series.
Global Spirit's season two weaves compelling film segments and informed, philosophically-diverse studio conversations, into an engaging 12-part series that examines a wide range of core, timeless topics such as love, community, indigenous wisdom, the power of storytelling, the idea of God (or a higher power), oneness, sacred ecology and spiritual renewal. The series sheds light on how these and other core concepts are inherent in our day-to-day lives, and how they have emerged from religious, spiritual, and wisdom traditions around the world.
The program presents a global, pluralistic view of belief systems - how they differ in interesting ways, and yet, grow out of similar human, existential and moral questions. Each week, the series presents new discoveries and ancient insights on our eternal connection with nature, the cross-cultural markers and essence of wisdom, how the translation of sacred texts can affect the way we see truth, and our conscious relationship with death and how it affects our daily relationship with life.
Viewers will join writer,
TOUR GUIDE and spiritual seeker Phil Cousineau on a journey of spiritual exploration, internal travel and reflection. Cousineau brings together philosophers, teachers, academics, spiritual guides, indigenous shamans, among other thought leaders to discuss the philosophical and emotional dimensions of higher consciousness and our human quest to discover and align with our core values and belief systems.
Stephen Olsson, producer/director of the Global Spirit series adds, "Increasingly, we see discoveries in scientific research in philosophical alignment with the wisdom of indigenous elders both pointing to a growing sense of disconnect today, in our relationship with the natural world, with formal religion, with our communities, and with our very sense of self. We created the Global Spirit series specifically to promote conversation and thought about our shared Global Spirit - that which connects us, and to explore what that means to us as individuals and members of society. We hope these programs offer all those ready to take the journey, some timeless wisdom for these challenging times."
Distributed by American Public Television (APT) season two of "Global Spirit " debuts on public television stations nationwide beginning in April. For stations and times check local listings.
