Ten years ago, Mylo Carbia made entertainment headlines for landing a "three picture deal" just 28 days after completing her first script all without a manager or an agent. But years later, Carbia returns to the center stage to offer aspiring writers good advice namely, "Get a manager, get a lawyer and an agent!"
Carbia will be speaking Saturday morning September 28, 2013, at the Pitch Panel at Screenwriters World Conference West, hosted at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, California. Although the session is primarily focused on pitching screenplays to producers, Carbia knows her early experience of landing deals without formal representation will be a topic of conversation.
"I have learned so much over the years and wouldn't dream of walking into a meeting without my team today," said Carbia. "After the production company that offered me my first break unexpectedly folded due to problems with another film, I quietly continued doing work for other film and television projects under my company Zohar Films. However, I am most excited to announce my official return at the SWC event, with several of my original scripts available for option and in development."
In addition to working on her own projects, Carbia has been signed by Ironbound Studios to pen the screenplay for "Maids of Havana" a historical drama based on the international best-selling book by Pedro Perez Sarduy.
