Famed Broadway, film, and TV producer Scott Rudin has boarded DreamWorks' THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, written by Aaron Sorkin, has been in development for years, with Stephen Spielberg at one time attached to direct. Now, THR has confirmed that Paul Greengrass is locking in a deal to helm.
The film follows "the trial of seven people who were charged with conspiracy and inciting to riot during the Chicago protests that occurred at the time of 1968 Democratic National Convention. The clash between the police and demonstrators and the subsequent trial went on to become a defining moment of the '60s."

Over his career, Rudin has become known as one of the most preemenent theatrical producers, with credits such as GYPSY, THE BOOK OF MORMON, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, THE TESTAMENT OF MARY and more to his name.
On the film side, he's produced such films as NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, THERE WILL BE BLOOD, THE SOCIAL NETWORK, and THE TRUMAN SHOW.
Rudin also currently serves as an executive producer on Sorkin's HBO drama THE NEWSROOM.
