Luc Besson has enlisted Scarlett Johansson as his latest butt-kicking leading lady.
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the stage and screen actress is in final negotiations to star in Besson's upcoming action film, titled LUCY, which he wrote and is set to direct for Universal. Johansson will take on the titular role.
According to the report, LUCY "centers on a woman who is forced to become a drug mule. But the drug instead goes into her system, transforming her into an ass-kicking machine. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can't feel pain and other discomforts."

A film and TV child star, Scarlett Johansson rose to international fame with the films Girl with a Pearl Earring and Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation, both in 2003. Additional films include A Love Song for Bobby Long, Match Point, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Iron Man 2, The Avengers and more. On stage, Johansson made her first appearance in the Off Broadway play Sophistry and in 2009 made her debut on Broadway,as Catherine Carbone in A View from the Bridge alongside Liev Schreiber for which she won the 2010 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play. Johansson recently wrapped Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, where she starred alongside Ciarán Hinds, Benjamin Walker, and Debra Monk. She has released two albums, Anywhere I Lay My Head and Break Up.
Besson is well known for his female-lead action flicks. He's helmed such films as LA FEMME NIKITA, JOAN OF ARC, and THE FIFTH ELEMENT.
