Variety reported earlier this week that the film is in very early development, but has not officially been greenlit.
Johansson has been playing the role of Black Widow since Iron Man 2 in 2010. She went on to reprise the role in The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War.
