Scarlett Johansson's next project very well may be in a musical after-all (as previously reported, she was rumored to be the new star of Broadway's upcoming Promises Promises).  That, turned out to be just rumor, her reps confirmed, however, reports are now circulating that Johannson is in search of the next big movie musical in which to star.  The actress apparently grew up with big dreams of becoming the next Judy Garland, and she is reportedly letting the Hollywood executives know, according to IMDB News.

Johansson tells Spinner.com, "When I was a kid, I started acting because I wanted to be in movie musicals and on Broadway. I took a lot of vocal lessons and I thought I was going to be Judy Garland or something...It's always been my dream to do a movie musical. I always wanted to sing on camera."

With movie musicals having gotten a new lease on life with the success of the success of recent big screen musicals such as Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Dreamgirls and Hairspray, the actress is hopeful to have an opportunity to play her part in the movement. She says, 'I'm really excited that it's sort of been revived. It's nIce That I maybe have a chance to do it."

Johansson is best known for her film career, with credits including The Horse Whisperer, Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring, In Good Company, The Island, The Other Boleyn Girl and Vicky Christina Barcelona. She made her professional debut in the music arena with her 2008 solo album Anywhere I Lay My Head, featuring her interpretations of songs by Tom Waits. The album got mixed to tepid reviews.
