The January 7 edition of "Saturday Night Live" has scored the show's highest adult 18-49 and total-viewer results of the past 52 weeks, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Last weekend's telecast, hosted by Charles Barkley and featuring musical guest Kelly Clarkson, dominated its 11:52 p.m.-1:22 a.m. ET slot with a 4.l rating, 16 share in adults 18-49 and 10.1 million viewers overall. These are the highest "SNL" averages since the January 8, 2011 edition hosted by Jim Carrey with musical guest The Black Keys.

Note that the start of the January 7 telecast was delayed to 11:52 p.m. ET by an NFL overrun.

In adults 18-49, "Saturday Night Live" tied for the #5 ranking among entertainment telecasts for the week of January 2-8 on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW, ahead of every non-sports/non-news primetime program on those networks except "Modern Family," "Two and a Half Men," "Grey's Anatomy" and "2 Broke Girls," and tied with "NCIS."

Season to date, "Saturday Night Live" is matching its year-ago adult 18-49 rating (2.9 vs. 2.9, "most current") and is running within 0.1 percent of its year-ago average in total viewers (7.450 million vs. 7.460 million).
