As first reported in the Hollywood Reporter, Sarah Palin and producer Mark Burnett are currently pitching a new reality series about Palin's husband Todd and his adventures on his snowmobile. While Palin's 2010 reality series, TLC's 'Alaska', attracted an astonishing 5 million viewers, initial interest in the new project is weak.
According to the report, Discovery Communications as well as A & E networks have already passed on the project. Sources say Palin and Burnett's heavy price tag of more than $1 million per episode is partly to blame for the networks' disinterest. In addition, Palin has of late disappeared from the public eye and no longer carries her status as a 'cultural lightning rod' that she once enjoyed. Once she announced that she would not be seeking the Republican presidential nomination, press attention quickly shifted away from Palin and onto frontrunners Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney.
According to one network spokesperson, “I think it’s safe to say her time has passed.”
