Superstar actress Sarah Jessica Parker has been married to actor Matthew Broderick for nearly 20 years. The secret to their success? Broderick is still the "smartest" and "funniest" person to her, she tells Jane Pauley in an interview to be broadcast Oct. 16 (9:00 AM ET) on CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH Jane Pauley on the CBS Television Network.
The couple has three children-a boy and twin girls-and Parker explains to Pauley what happily married means.
"The things that annoy me don't matter," Parker says. "And I think that is because we are functioning-we're grown up people. I feel like it's as simple as I like him so much. Like he's still the person that I want, that I hope I'm making proud, or whose approval I'm still needing in some way. He's still the smartest and funniest to me."
In a wide-ranging interview, Parker talks with Pauley about her childhood, how the mega-hit series "Sex and the City" changed her life and her latest project, a series for
HBO called "Divorce." The series features Parker as a suburban working mother whose marriage is foundering.
Parker also talks about what attracted her to acting when she was just a child.
"I loved being somebody else. I loved it," she tells Pauley. "I loved the money. I couldn't believe they were paying me. It was amazing. I mean it changed my life."
