This spring, TBS and Samsung are teaming up to bring viewers home with NBA legend and TNT's INSIDE THE NBA analyst Kenny Smith and his family in the new TBS reality series Meet the Smiths. Spanning multiple screens, key highlights of the full-season sponsorship include a digital-first show premiere, on-air and online exclusive bonus scenes and in-show brand integration. The half-hour unscripted comedy is set to premiere Friday, April 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TBS.
Combine a legendary sports star with a beautiful and talented actress-model-singer, and it can be a match made in Heaven. Toss in five kids ranging in age from 2 to 21, and it is a recipe for unpredictable craziness.
MEET THE SMITHS is a
TBS original series starring NBA legend Kenny Smith and his wife, Gwendolyn Osborne-Smith, along with their lively family.
Sponsored by Samsung, Turner will provide viewers early access to the first episode of
MEET THE SMITHS on April 1 on TBS.com, the Watch
TBS app and participating distribution partners' sites and apps. Also available on TBS.com, Samsung will have season-long sponsorship of the
MEET THE SMITHS show section featuring full episodes, behind-the-scenes clips and bonus content. To further heighten engagement and bring viewers even closer to the Smiths, Samsung will also sponsor exclusive bonus scenes showcasing never-before-seen content. A sixty-second vignette with custom Samsung messaging will air on
TBS and
TBS social outlets driving to TBS.com, which will house the bonus content in its entirety. Additional linear elements include a custom spot featuring integration footage to air on
TBS and
TNT throughout the season.
As Kenny and Gwen manage their home of big personalities and whirlwind schedules, Samsung will complement their efforts on-screen with organic, in-show brand integration. Storylines include Kenny turning his daughter Monique's room into a man-cave complete with a brand new Samsung Curve TV, as Monique was never allowed a TV in her own room. Later in the season, Kenny is away for work in Atlanta on his anniversary when Gwen surprises him with a Samsung tablet in his suitcase in an effort to stay connected even when physically apart.
"Aligning with Samsung, an official-NBA marketing partner, is a natural fit for this original series as we continue to provide brands opportunities to get closer to viewers than ever before, across all screens, while we extend Samsung messaging to the
TBS audience," said Dan Riess, executive vice president of integrated marketing and branded content, Turner Broadcasting Ad Sales. "By harnessing thoughtful, organic brand integration, we are able to generate shareable content and spark new conversation with our audience to the benefit of our advertising partners."
